In the spirit of keeping the planning process easy and fun, we'd like to offer the following suggestions for planning a wedding on our islands:
1) Choose your date - You really can't go wrong when choosing a date for a wedding here as its always sunny in Southwest Florida. October and November are lovely months on the islands ... not too busy, not too warm - ideal for a destination getaway.
2) Choose your venue - Sanibel and Captiva offer a variety of venues for destination weddings. Whether you're looking for an all-inclusive resort, a family-friendly setting, or a small, intimate beach ceremony, we have plenty of options to choose from. Captiva hosts a number of wonderful rental homes on the beach which are ideal for housing up to 15-20 people.
3) Choose your vendors - One of the great things about the community of Sanibel and Captiva is that it's full of welcoming, friendly people who love where they live and enjoy sharing it with visitors. As you choose your vendors for your wedding, you will almost always be met with a friendly smile and a warm welcome. Your vendors will likely include an officiant, florist, photographer, musician and baker for the cake. You may also want to consider a wedding coordinator if you'd like some assistance with the details. A wedding coordinator is typically a local resident who has lived and worked on the islands for a number of years who can provide detailed insight, suggestions and recommendations for your event.
