    Leprechan Sighting on Periwinkle Way!

    Leprechan spotted on Sanibel
    The luck of the Irish was with many as they spotted the mischievious Leprechan on Saint Patricks Day at Pfeifer Realty Group. Sporting his clover vest, pot of gold and "If Your Kissing, I'm Irish" sign, this little mischief maker brought smiles to many as they passed.

    Sanctuary Golf Club Supports Sanibel Youth

    Recently, the Sanctuary Golf Club and the City of Sanibel Recreation Center entered into a Corporate Partnership benefiting the children of the community. Children enrolled in the City’s Recreation Center programs will have the opportunity to receive golf lessons at The Sanctuary Golf Club. Additionally The Sanctuary Golf Club made a contribution to the Recreation Center’s youth programs and has given the Recreation Department a golf cart to help maintain and support the athletic fields. In return, employees of The Sanctuary Golf Club will be provided with corporate memberships to the City Recreation Center.

    Contest Winner Names Holiday Elves

    SANIBEL ISLAND, FL (January 7, 2009) – As the holiday season came to a close and decorations were carefully stored, the six whimsical elves in front of Pfeifer Realty Group on Periwinkle Way were not packed away nameless. “I had no idea the elves would create such interest” said Pfeifer. Passers-by stopped to take photos and would call the office if the elves were not outside just to be sure they were alright. “We were asked so many elf questions that we decided to let the public help us name them.”

    Dick Muench "The Commish" to Retire Little League

    December 7th, 2008 the Sanibel Community Center filled with Islanders gathered to honor the thirty five years of generous service to the Sanibel Little League Program by Dick Muench. Current Sanibel Mayor Mick Denim, Former Sanibel Mayor Marty Harrity, current Major League & and former little league ball player Johnny Tellasano, Major League Pitcher and Master Carver Jim Sprankle, Glass Artist and local philanthropist Luc Century , Textile Printer Mary Irving, Film Producer Rusty Farst, and the new head of the Sanibel’s Little League Program Eric Pfeifer all joined their talents and time to roast and honor the retiring "Commish”.

    Thanks to the hard work of organizers Betsy Ventura and Jean Baer, Sanibel residents will be able to select fresh local fruits, vegetables, flowers, seafood, breads, cheeses, soups, pastas, jams, nuts, honey and many organic products at the Farmer's Market! Each Sunday from 8:00am to 1:00pm, Nobember thru April.

    Sanibel's Farmers Market is located at City Hall on Dunlop Road next to the Sanibel Library and BIG Arts.

    Manatee May Madness

    Sanibel Octifest
    May 13th, 2008. Today on Sanibel Island a few lucky individuals witnessed a very unusual sight. Approximately 20 manatees had gathered in the shallow tidal zone on the bayside of the Lighthouse in an amazing display of mating ritual behavior. The large female remained surrounded by several males throughout the day. Oblivious to human onlookers, the manatees remained in the shallow waters off the beach until dark. The photos seen here were taken by John Pfeifer age 9.

    Octifest Fever Runs Wild on Sanibel Island!

    Octifest was created in 2008 as a signature event to support the Sanibel Sea School. The first event had local residents running from bay to sea clutching cryptic clues. Nesting a new event in the Sanibel Captiva Social Calendar is always a challenge to build awareness, and the first Octifest was hard to miss. A new clue was hidden on the island each week for 8 weeks before the event and if found, the clue was exchanged for a great prize. The first year each lucky islander won an original Luc Century hand etched vase!
