Tropical Storm Isaac - Sanibel Island
LAST UPDATED: 27 August 2012

Tropcial Storm Isaac - Sanibel Island

During the past 48 hours on Sanibel Island, Tropical Storm Isaac delivered wind, rain, and lots of waves. Sanibel fared very well with minimal wind damage consisting mostly of fallen palm fronds and downed limbs.

While the high tide coincided with the surge as the storm passed well to the west, waters in the canal systems rose only to the sea wall caps before receeding. Strong waves continued Sunday & today August 27th as the winds pushed onshore.

It is now 5:00 pm EST August 27th and sunshine is breaking through the clouds and the winds have shifted and are now coming from the south as the storm is well north of us in the Gulf of Mexico.

As the Gulf waters calm and low tide arrives happy shellers will be finding treasures for days to come all along our beautiful beaches. We hope that the storm will be as kind to our neighbors along the Gulf as Isaac moves north.
