    Dark Skies Ordinance Passes on Sanibel

    On March 10th, 2015 the Sanibel City Council passed the Dark Skies Ordinance with a unanimous 5-0 vote. Vice Mayor Doug Congress who was the main framer of Ordinance 15-004 said "we spoke with hundreds of residents, business owners and home owners and I think this has been an excellent process". It was an appropriate finish to his term on City Council as this was his last official vote before turning over his seat to the newly elected Chauncey Goss who was elected to fill the open position.

    Tropcial Storm Isaac - Sanibel Island

    During the past 48 hours on Sanibel Island, Tropical Storm Isaac delivered wind, rain and lots of waves. Sanibel fared very well with mimimal wind damage consisting mostly of fallen palm fronds and downed limbs.

    While the high tide coincided with the surge as the storm passed well to the west, waters in the canal systems rose only to the sea wall caps before receeding. Strong waves continued Sunday & today August 27th as the winds pushed onshore.
