Growing Up on Sanibel features Michael Damico. This first of five Sanibel Island documentaries sponsored by Pfeifer Realty Group highlights four generations of people who grew up on Sanibel. The film will features some long–time Sanibel residents who either grew up here, or who moved here in their early adult years, and who raised families here. An additional focus to adults who grew up here takes a nostalgic look back at their experience growing up Sanibel Island. Finally, current “Sanibel kids” are featured, with glimpses into their island lives.
Baseball defined Michael's childhood growing up on Sanibel Island. I started playing T Ball in New York and then started playing at the Sanibel school with the pitching machine and then moved to the major league and on to play at Fort Myers High School. I was also included in a documentary produced on Sanibel Island called "Dear Baseball I love You" that debuted in Cooperstown at the Baseball Hall of Fame. I moved to Sanibel when I was in the first grade and made a few good friends, but baseball really grew my network of friends that loved the game like I did. Without baseball, high school would have been very different for me. I love that I grew up on Sanibel.
