Pfeifer Realty Helps SCCF Land Acquisitions
LAST UPDATED: 15 March 2022

Sanibel Broker Eric Pfeifer helps the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) with the acquisition of 84 additional acres on Sanibel, Fort Myers, and Cape Coral in 2021. As of March 15th, 2022 SCCF maintains 1,943 acres in addition to 443 acres that were acquired in partnership with the Calusa Land Trust.

It's hard for some people to believe that an individual who owns and manages a real estate brokerage whose job is to help buyers and sellers buy and sell homes, condos, and land parcels of land on Sanibel Island, Captiva Island, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Estero, Fort Myers Beach, Bonita, and Naples would find island homes for sale and sellers would work diligently to help a Conservation Organization acquire lands to be held in trust, but that is exactly what Eric Pfeifer has done and will continue to do. Why? Because it's the right thing to do.

When Eric and Mary Ellen moved to Sanibel Island in 2001 to raise their children on this fragile barrier island, they were thrilled to know that nearly 60% of the island was held in conservation lands by different organizations. What is the most surprising fact is that 20 years later, nearly 70% of Sanibel lands are held in conservation! There are very few places in the world where lands set aside for wildlife and plants continue to increase. We are so very fortunate to live in a place surrounded by like-minded individuals who wish to set land aside for future generations to explore and enjoy.

"As stewards of the island, we are grateful that we are able to assist SCCF in acquiring additional conservation lands." ~ Eric and Mary Ellen Pfeifer

The Pfeifer family's first involvement with SCCF was during the land campaign to acquire the Bailey Homestead on Periwinkle Way. Their open house helped meet the financial goal and the Bailey Homestead Preserve is now a popular destination for walkers and homeowners interested in finding native plants and landscaping ideas to benefit wildlife and pollinators. Mary Ellen Pfeifer joined SCCF's Board of Trustees and served for 5 years during which time she helped remodel the Wilmeth Cottage for visiting scientists and both intern residences to maximize capacity. She was also on the board when Ryan Orgera was named CEO. Mary Ellen has also served on SCCF's nominating committee for three years and will soon be helping with their Marketing Committee.

Winter 2022 Connecting You to Nature: SCCF's past year featured land acquisition achievements that varied in terms of location, acreage, and wildlife habitat characteristics. These land transactions had one thing in common: SCCF's representation by Pfeifer Realty Group. Beyond their professional expertise, the Pfeifer team also agreed to donate back all the commissions they were entitled to for their work. With gratitude, we salute the Pfeifers and Pfeifer Realty Group for their incredible demonstration of corporate philanthropy.
