The light, 98-foot above sea level, on an iron skeleton tower was first lit on August 20, 1884 and has a central spiral staircase beginning about 10 feet above the ground.

The Sanibel Marina is near the lighthouse on the southern tip.... Direct access to the Gulf of Mexico and Intracoastal Waterway. The Sanibel Marina has 65 slips for boats up to 70′ it is a full service marina with a wonderful restaurant.

Originally built in 1957, The Sanibel Seahorse Shopping Center is perfect to pick up some quaint odds and ends or to grab a bite to eat and top it off with some homemade ice cream.

The homes located at the East End are either Gulf Front, Bay front or on the many canals that wind around this end of the island.
