Learn About the History of South Seas Resort

FUN FACT: Redfish Pass was formed in 1921 when strong hurricane tides carved the channel connecting the waters of Pine Island Sound with the Gulf of Mexico splitting Captiva Island into two islands: Captiva and Upper Captiva Island. Shortly after the pass was formed large amounts of Redfish were caught in the fast moving waters of the pass, and was named Redfish Pass by locals. This is how Redfish Pass was formed and how it got its name.
