West Gulf Drive is known for its luxurious homes, condos, miles of sandy beach and great accessibility to all Sanibel has to offer. West Gulf Drive is beatifically landscaped and one can smell the aroma of the blooming gardenias and confederate jasmine while pedaling down the bike path on your way to the beach. West Gulf Drive beaches are known for their shells and in fact the very first Shell Fair was held on the front porch of the Island Inn (located on W. Gulf) in 1937.
West Gulf Drive has a close sense of community as many of the neighborhoods have their own homeowner’s associations. Although there are some condominiums and small hotels, the area is known, particularly north of Rabbit Road, for its stately Gulf-front single family homes.
