March 4, 2010: To date, a total of 103 Sanibel and Captiva homes, condos, or vacant land have gone under contract or closed in 2010. During this same time period in 2009, only 58 properties went under contract or closed. What conclusions, if any can be drawn from this 77% increase in the number of properties going under contract?
Buyers are buying, but they are more patient and analytical, and less emotional about their offers. While it is impossible to predict the future, a few things hold true. Sanibel and Captiva Islands remain a popular dream destination for many worldwide buyers. Low-interest rates combined with a large inventory continue favorable buying conditions.
