Pfeifer Realty Group, launched their 2019 Community Support Campaign with a $1,000 contribution to “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society (DDWS) to help fund the Woodring 100th Anniversary Exhibit. Unveiled to the public at the Visitor & Education Center on January 23rd, The Woodring Exhibit celebrates 100 years of Woodring Point history through the lens of the late iconic photographer Charlie McCullough as well as artifacts from both the Sanibel Historical Museum and the Woodring homestead. “We appreciate the support and impact this donation makes on the work that can be done here at the Refuge. It’s an honor to be the first to receive a gift from Pfeifer’s 2019 Community Support Campaign,” stated Birgie Miller, DDWS Executive Director. “It takes everyone working together to have an impact on our island communities” continued Miller.
The refuge’s acquisition of the Woodring estate in 2013 helps to preserve a rare example of a true “Florida Cracker” style home and a glimpse back in time to Old Sanibel. “It’s rare to live in a town where pioneering families and their descendants walk among us. What a treasure we have here on these islands to be able to learn and embrace our history and play a part in preserving it for others to enjoy” stated Eric Pfeifer, Broker. “It’s an honor to support the work and efforts of the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society.” The Woodring Exhibit is free to the public and will be on display at the visitor center until March 25th.
