Fort Myers Top Retirement Destination

The U.S. News and World Report announce Fort Myers, Florida as the number one place in the country to retire in 2020.

Compared to 125 of the largest metropolitan areas in the country, Fort Myers, FL moved up from 2nd place in 2019 to the No. 1 spot to retire in the nation.

Top retirement destinations were picked according to how well they dovetailed with the expectations of American's looking for areas to retire. Several key factors included: housing affordability, the area's desirability, quality health care and an overall feeling of happiness.

Fort Myers was ranked the number one retirement destination for 2020 because there is a wide range of affordable housing, there is access to extensive health care facilities, the area boasts a robust economy with job opportunities and growth potential, there is also an overall sense of happiness in the area. Not to be overlooked, but Florida is appealing due to the lack of a state income tax, allowing senior citizens to save more retirement monies in the future.
