Dancing with the Sanibel Stars was a tremendous success. This event benefiting the Sanibel Community Center sold out quickly. Tickets to the event were so popular that the event was broadcast live at the Dunes Golf and Tennis Club, Beachview Country Club, the Sanctuary Golf Club, Doc Fords, and the Lazy Flamingo!
The brainchild of the Community Center's General Manager Gloria Baker, Dancing with the Sanibel Stars should easily become an annual event. With over $75,000 raised to support the Sanibel Community Center, the evening was spectacular!
Karen Bell, dancing the tango won the people's choice award and Billy Kirkland won the award for raising the most money. Billy redefined the west coast swing when he incorporated Segways into his routine.
In the end, the true winner in this competition was the Sanibel Community Center! All the dancers did a wonderful job. Who will be next year's dancing stars? It's never too early to get started on your routine!
