Pfeifer Realty Group Gift to SCCF’s Habitat Management Program The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) is pleased to announce a $2,500 gift from the Pfeifer Realty Group to be directed toward new land restoration equipment for its Wildlife & Habitat Management program.
As a member of SCCF’s Board of Trustees, Mary Ellen Pfeifer serves as a co-board liaison in identifying unsupported needs of the Wildlife & Habitat Management staff. Pfeifer learned how the department’s old equipment was impeding their ability to function efficiently. Among the identified equipment needs was a new John Deere skid steer.
Pfeifer Realty Group played a key role in funding the skid steer with a $2,500 lead contribution.“We are pleased to be able to support the work of the Wildlife & Habitat Management staff,” said Pfeifer. “This equipment will be used in the restoration and maintenance of habitat on SCCF preserves. Once conservation land has been purchased, it usually requires significant restoration and maintenance, which is part of SCCF’s work that is often not seen by the public.” The new equipment has already proven to be tremendously helpful.
Notes SCCF CEO Ryan Orgera, “We are lucky to have Trustees who are so invested in the work being done by SCCF staff. This financial support provided by Eric and Mary Ellen Pfeifer through the Pfeifer Realty Group expedites our ability to maintain preserve lands as productive wildlife habitat.”
SCCF currently manages over 1,800 acres on Sanibel and conducts several wildlife monitoring projects on Sanibel, Captiva, North Captiva and other islands in Pine Island Sound.
SCCF is dedicated to the conservation of coastal habitats and aquatic resources on Sanibel and Captiva and in the surrounding watershed. Community support through membership dues and tax-deductible contributions, in addition to grants and staff-generated revenue, makes this work possible.
